Financial Responsibility

OKCIC is required by Federal Law (Indian Health Care Improvement Act Amendments of 1988 PL 100-713) to seek and collect payment from any medical program that the patient is entitled to participate in. This means that if you have insurance, the clinic is required by law to bill your insurance and if you are eligible for coverage such as SoonerCare, we are required to assist you with the application process.

The clinic works very hard to seek out and obtain grants that enable us to expand our services and meet the needs of our patients. This is why we need the partnership of our patients to take advantage of health care programs you may be entitled to and help increase the health care opportunities available at the clinic.

  • SoonerCare
  • Insure Oklahoma
  • Most private insurance plans
  • Most dental insurance plans

Benefits Coordinators

OKCIC has Benefits Coordinators on staff that are responsible for providing education and enrollment assistance for various programs such as:

  • Medicare (including New-to-Medicare counseling and Medicare Prescription Drug coverage)
  • Benefits associated with the Oklahoma Health Care Authority including SoonerCare, SoonerPlan, and Insure Oklahoma
  • Aging Services
  • Veterans Benefits
  • Health Insurance Marketplace (aka Affordable Care Act)

Purchased / Referred Care (PRC)

If you need emergency care: Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada is the nearest Indian health care Emergency Room (ER). If you need urgent ER care, go to the nearest ER and notify I.H.S. Purchased / Referred Care (PRC) within 72 hours at (405) 951-6075 to see if payment assistance is available.

If you are sent to the ER by Oklahoma City Indian Clinic, you (the patient) need to notify PRC.
