OKLAHOMA CITY- Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is pleased to announce the resounding success of the Feeding Holiday Hunger event. Over 30 passionate volunteers rallied together to serve 400 vulnerable families at OKCIC. Feed The Children, a national nonprofit dedicated to tackling food insecurity, provided shelf-stable food, hygiene items, children’s toys and books for the drive-thru event.
Every year, thousands of people living in Oklahoma struggle with hunger. About 560,000 Oklahomans experience food insecurity with 180,000 being children, according to Feeding America. OKCIC and Feed the Children recognize this obstacle and hope through events like this, families will have the food resources and financial relief they need.
“Oklahoma City Indian Clinic and Feed The Children share the aligned goal of making positive changes in our community. Partnering with Feed The Children on this event was an obvious win for our patients” said Robyn Allen Sunday, OKCIC’s CEO. “These food and hygiene resources are instrumental, and support the most vulnerable families in our community.”
OKCIC’s mission is to provide excellent health care to American Indians. This event is one of the numerous ongoing efforts to fulfill this steadfast mission. Collaborating with organizations such as Feed The Children enables the provision of resources that enhance health determinants, thereby enabling OKCIC to successfully achieve its mission.
