Lights, Camera, Health!
This summer, Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) rolled out the red carpet for its annual Children’s Health Fair, a blockbuster event dedicated to bringing kids and families together for a fun-filled health checkup experience. Held over two days in early August, the fair transformed routine health screenings into a joyful, movie-themed adventure, combining essential health services with exciting activities to make getting ready for school a breeze.
Over 300 children aged 4-17 lined up for a star-studded lineup of health services, from vaccinations and dental fluoride treatments to sports physicals, hearing and vision screenings, and well-child checks. With every checkup, kids also received school supplies to help them gear up for the school year. The event took the usual stress out of health appointments, making them part of a thrilling experience that kids could enjoy.
A Day of Fun & Health
At this year’s fair, OKCIC pulled out all the stops to make it memorable. A petting zoo, complete with furry friends, had kids grinning from ear to ear, while a colorful ice cream truck delivered sweet treats and cool relief from the summer heat. The festive, movie-themed decorations brought an added touch of magic, turning an ordinary checkup into a Hollywood-worthy experience.
One Stop Health Fair for Families
OKCIC organized the fair to be a one-stop health shop, designed to make both parents and kids happy. Staff from various departments pitched in to create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The clinic’s goal was to ensure that kids not only felt comfortable but also had fun, leaving parents satisfied knowing their children were prepared for the year ahead.
