OKLAHOMA CITY- Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is proud to announce the success of its recent annual Women’s Health Fair, an event dedicated to enhancing the well-being of Native women in the community.
Serving approximately 100 patients, the fair offered a comprehensive range of vital services, including vaccinations, mammograms, dental care, OB-GYN wellness checks, and more. Beyond medical care, attendees had the opportunity to build connections with community partners from around the metro, while also enjoying a photobooth and participating in raffles.
Recent studies from the National Partnership for Women and Families reveal alarming disparities in maternal health due to factors such as poverty, substandard living conditions and food insecurity. OKCIC recognizes the unique challenges faced by Native women and is committed to working against systemic barriers that create unequal social conditions affecting their lives.
“Events like the Women’s Health Fair are essential to Oklahoma City’s Native community as it helps assess the gaps in our population,” said Dr. Tyler Freeman, OKCIC’s Director of Family Medicine and Specialty Services. “The fair gives patients an opportunity to prioritize their health at no cost with trusted medical professionals who work to provide culturally sensitive care.”
OKCIC remains steadfast in its commitment to prioritizing Native women’s health. The clinic is elated to provide these services and looks forward to growing its reach to serve more patients.
