Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) opened its doors for its annual Men’s Health Fair, welcoming more than 100 patients for a full day focused on health, prevention, and a little fun along the way.
Prioritizing Men’s Health in the Native Community
Throughout the day, attendees took advantage of health screenings, immunizations, provider visits, and nutrition guidance from clinic dietitians. The ever popular interactive walkthrough colon exhibit was on-hand as well, sparking conversations about colorectal cancer and why early detection matters. The event was structured to be relaxed and welcoming, making it easier for many to take steps they might normally put off. Between appointments, participants enjoyed giveaways, prizes, and the always-popular staff chili cook-off, where everyone had a chance to cast a vote for their favorite.
For many men, American Indian men especially, health and mental wellness often take a back seat to family responsibilities. It’s not uncommon for issues like prostate concerns, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and mental health challenges to go unaddressed. That’s why events like this matter. The fair’s goal is to reach men who don’t consistently come in for routine physicals and give them a day that’s entirely about their health. By bringing labs, immunizations, screenings, and preventive care together in one place, it makes it easier to stay on track before health concerns turn into surprises.
Your Health is Important
The Men’s Health Fair reflects OKCIC’s ongoing commitment to supporting American Indian men through education, prevention, and community connection. It also serves as a reminder that taking care of your health isn’t just about you. It’s about being there for the people who count on you.
The next Men’s Health Fair will be held in the fall of 2026. To learn about upcoming events, please visit okcic.com/events.
