Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is led by an experienced all Native Board of Directors who bring a wealth of expertise and dedication to the organization’s mission of providing excellent health care services to American Indians. Through their leadership, these individuals guide OKCIC in delivering compassionate, culturally sensitive, and comprehensive care that addresses the unique health needs of the community.
Brian Gabbard, Chairman, Chickasaw Nation
Brian D. Gabbard serves as Chairman for OKCIC board of directors and previously served as the Chairperson for the Finance Committee. He sees the clinic’s biggest accomplishment as its expansion and ability to serve more Native Americans.
Gabbard, President of Gabbard & Company, has years of professional accounting and consulting experience. Mr. Gabbard’s career is based on helping individuals, businesses, and government entities identify and achieve their goals in an efficient, creative, well-thought manner.
David Thomas, Vice Chairman, Cherokee Nation
David Thomas has been a member of OKCIC’s board of directors since 2009 and presently serves as Vice Chairman.
Thomas brings a wealth of business experience to OKCIC’s leadership team. His skill sets include providing consulting, strategic planning, economic and business development, master planning, and project financing. He has also worked within management of health care, retirement communities for senior citizens, energy industry, retail, and alternative energy sectors.
Thomas became involved with OKCIC because he wanted to bring his business expertise and passion for health care together in a way that would help Indian people. His ultimate goal is to develop the clinic so it is the primary source of all health care services and programs for urban Indians so they can receive the benefits of this specialized care.
Gena Timberman, Secretary, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma
Gena Timberman serves as OKCIC’s Board Secretary and has dedicated her career to realizing the American Indian Cultural Center and Museum in Oklahoma since 1999. She led the development of a 300-acre site along the Oklahoma River, aiming to create a premier cultural destination with parkland, commercial spaces, and more.
Previously, Timberman practiced law focusing on insurance defense, product liability, and tribal economic development. She now specializes in Indian Country business development and cultural projects.
Timberman is a sought-after speaker on project management, tribal cultures, and economic development. She has received numerous awards, including recognition as a Native American Woman of the Year.
Actively involved in various boards and organizations, Timberman resides in Oklahoma City. In 2013, she founded Luksi Group, LLC, offering cultural consulting services for projects that celebrate and sustain Native cultures.
John Daugherty Jr., Treasurer, Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma
John Daugherty Jr. joined OKCIC’s Board of Directors in 2012 and currently serves as the Board Treasurer and Chairperson for the Finance Committee. He previously served on the Governance Committee.
Daugherty has 30 years of experience in health administration and works part-time as a health management consultant for the Osage Nation of Oklahoma. He retired from his position as the Area Director for the Oklahoma Area with Indian Health Service in April 2008.
