Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is thrilled to announce the success of its annual Men’s Health Fair in November 2023.
With a commitment to providing quality health care to American Indians, OKCIC served over 75 patients by offering essential health services, such as vaccinations, dental, annual well-checks, cancer screenings, optometry and more. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with local community partners and judge a spirited staff chili cook-off.
Prioritizing health is important
Despite the abundance of available medical resources, studies find that men in the United States are less likely to consult with a doctor compared to women. The National Library of Medicine noted this reluctance causes a rise in underlying health issues that could be prevented by routine care.
When men delay prioritizing their health they raise their risk of developing serious diseases, such as heart disease and prostate cancer. Holding events like OKCIC’s annual Men’s Health Fair is important because it gives men a fighting chance to tackle and prevent serious health issues that come their way.
OKCIC would like to thank Blue Cross Blue Shield and True Dads for being community partner’s at this year’s Men’s Health Fair.
Save the date! This year’s Men’s Health Fair will be held November 7, 2024.
