Catch a ride on The Tribal Trolley!
The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is celebrated not only for its exceptional health care but also for fostering a strong sense of community connection. Dedicated employees continually seek innovative ways to make the clinic more engaging, understanding that fostering joy and belonging is just as vital as the services they offer. When OKCIC staff proposed a contest inviting patients to name the clinic shuttle, it was clear the idea would be a tremendous success.
A Chance to Make Your Mark in OKCIC History
Within days, patients and staff members were buzzing with ideas. With over 100 comments flooding in, the contest transformed into a fun and lively conversation that brought both patients and staff closer. Patients shared their creative ideas, while staff voted and engaged with the post, building anticipation around what the final name would be. After six days of voting, the winning name came through loud and clear: The Tribal Trolley.
This name wasn’t just catchy—it held a special meaning. Viola Dowd, a member of the Sac and Fox Nation and a longtime patient, submitted this name, sharing that it instilled in her a profound sense of both personal and cultural pride.
Need Help Around OKCIC’s Campus?
The Tribal Trolley is officially part of OKCIC history, offering rides from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patients who need assistance can reach out to the registration desk to request a ride. In addition to providing transportation, The Tribal Trolley has become a symbol of the clinic’s commitment to a shared, welcoming space for Native American patients. This contest may have been a small gesture, but it’s brought patients and staff a little closer, giving everyone a moment of joy and connection.
