OKLAHOMA CITY- On April 28, 2024, Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) staff and patients proudly participated in the annual Run to Remember Memorial Marathon. This event is dedicated to honoring the lives lost during the tragic Oklahoma City bombing, which occurred on April 19, 1995. OKCIC takes pride in participating in the kids marathon, which helps teach our youth the importance of remembrance.
The Run To Remember Marathon holds a special significance for OKCIC, as it provides an opportunity for both reflection and action. All nine children who participated are part of OKCIC’s Running Club. In the months leading up to the marathon, staff members trained and ran with the children, guiding them to run 25 of the full 26.2 miles. The peak of their hard work was met by completing the final 1.2 miles during the kids marathon.
It was great to watch the kids cross the finish line.”said Rochelle Plummer, OKCIC’s Health Promotion Disease Prevention Manager. ”This is an event that unifies the community and I’m so glad we got to be a part of it.”
OKCIC is committed to teaching our youth about the importance of health and wellness. This event allows for them to exercise and support the legacy of those lives lost and changed forever.
