October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to remember those lost to breast cancer, celebrate survivors, and emphasize the importance of preventive screenings.
A Special Event Dedicated to Breast Cancer Survivors
This fall, we honored our breast cancer “champions” with an Indigenous Pink Day Championship Gathering on October 17, 2024. The term “champions” is used to offer a new perspective, highlighting the strength required to navigate the challenges of cancer. This term signifies triumph rather than mere survival.
The event included pumpkin painting, a photo booth, fellowship, and a presentation by survivor Stacey Brimm on self-image. Stacey shared insights on tattoo options for areas affected by breast cancer surgery, offering an empowering approach to healing and self-expression. Smiling faces filled the event, bringing lightness and joy to what many will cherish as a lasting memory.
