Expanding Optometry Care to Better Serve the Native Community

By: Abbee Geissler, RDH, Director of Optometry

Optometry at Oklahoma City Indian Clinic continues to grow in ways that enhance access, efficiency, and the overall patient experience. Over the past year, we welcomed a new optometrist to our team, allowing us to expand appointment availability and better meet the vision care needs of our community. This addition strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across all clinic locations.

Advancing Optical Care
Growth has also continued within our Optical department as demand for eyewear services increases. To better serve patients, Optical is expanding its in-house lab to support a higher volume of eyewear orders while maintaining the quality and precision our patients expect. In addition, the department recently introduced Spark, a new AI-powered measurement system that delivers fast, touch-free measurements with exceptional accuracy. This advanced technology allows lenses to be more precisely fitted, helping reduce adjustment challenges and improve overall visual outcomes.

Growing with a Purpose
Together, these enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to thoughtful growth, innovation, and high-quality care. As Optometry and Optical continue to evolve, we remain focused on providing reliable, convenient vision services that support the health and well-being of our patients and community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for Optometry services?
Anyone with an active chart at the clinic is eligible for Optometry services. Patients of all ages are welcome.

Are glasses available at no cost to patients?
Many tribes offer voucher assistance for eyewear. Our opticians are knowledgeable about these programs and are happy to help patients navigate available options. For patients whose tribes do not offer assistance, additional programs may be available.

Do you offer contact lens examinations?
At this time, routine contact lens examinations are not offered. Eyeglass prescriptions are provided, except in cases where contact lenses are medically necessary.

Where is Optometry located?
Optometry is located on the third floor of the 309 S. Ann Arbor building.

How do I reach Optometry or Optical?
For questions or more information call (405) 948-4900 ext. 390 for Optometry or ext. 795 for Optical.
