Supporting Native Wellness
In November of last year, Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) hosted its annual Men’s Health Fair, providing Native men with vital health services and connections to community resources. This year’s event served nearly 90 patients, offering preventive care such as vaccinations, lab testing, and access to local health and wellness organizations.
Thank You To Our Community Partners
The success of the Men’s Health Fair was made possible through partnerships with several organizations dedicated to supporting Native health. Their collaboration helped ensure a comprehensive experience for attendees, addressing both physical and emotional well-being.
Bringing the Community Together with Health Care & Fun
Beyond medical care, the fair created an engaging and welcoming environment, incorporating cultural elements and interactive activities. One of the highlights was OKCIC’s popular chili cook-off, where five staff members competed for the title. Jimsey, a member of OKCIC’s custodian team, defended his championship, winning for the second consecutive year. Patients also participated in a drum circle, experiencing the healing rhythm of the drums, which promotes relaxation and mental well-being.
OKCIC remains committed to fostering health and wellness in the Native community and takes pride in the impact of its health fairs. To learn more about OKCIC programs, visit okcic.com.
